Plain-language definitions for terms used across Helium Suite and its free tools.
- CGST / SGST
- Central and State GST: for a sale within the same state (intra-state), GST is split evenly between these two, each at half the total rate.
- Client Portal
- A private, branded space where one client reviews proposals, tracks project progress, and pays invoices, without needing to create an account.
- DPDP Act
- India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, which sets rules for how personal data is collected, processed, and protected.
- GST
- Goods and Services Tax, an India-wide tax added to most invoices. Use the free GST Calculator to add, remove, or split it.
- IGST
- Integrated GST: for a sale between two different states (inter-state), the full GST amount is charged as IGST instead of splitting into CGST/SGST.
- Invoice Line Item
- A single row on an invoice: a description, quantity, and rate, that together make up the invoice total before tax.
- Kanban Board
- A board with columns representing stages of work (e.g. New, In Progress, Done); items move across columns as work progresses.
- Lead
- A potential client who has not yet signed on. Leads live in your pipeline until they convert into a client.
- Lead Pipeline
- A visual, staged view of every open lead, from first contact through to won or lost.
- MRR
- Monthly Recurring Revenue: the predictable revenue from active subscriptions or retainers, billed every month.
- Proposal
- A document outlining scope, timeline, and price for a project, sent to a lead or client for review and approval.
- Recurring Invoice
- An invoice that generates and sends automatically on a set schedule, typically monthly, for retainer work.
- Retainer
- An ongoing engagement billed on a recurring schedule (usually monthly), rather than a one-off project fee.
- Verified Review
- A review that can only be submitted by a client with portal access to a specific completed project, making it harder to fake than an open review site.
- White-Label
- Branded to look like your business rather than the tool you built it with, e.g. your logo and colors on a client portal instead of a generic login screen.
